Seminar Descriptions

The Brain Class

Are you concerned how your brain is aging? Are you interested in researched techniques to protect your brain cells so they can last your lifetime? In “The Brain Class” you will learn exciting “brain power” exercises to boost your mental focus, you will learn about specific actions that threaten and those that help promote your brain health, and you will even learn how to simply be less forgetful. The “Body Moves for Brain Power” segment of this class is designed to stimulate brain cell activity and improve blood flow to the brain. The patterns, actions, and training are done from a chair. You won’t get sweaty, but your brain will be invigorated! This information-rich class will be a combination of lecture and seated activity.

Body Moves for Brain Power

Without any doubt, exercise is the top recommendation for keeping your brain healthy. Exercise increases blood flow to the brain and helps build new brain cells. Regular exercise can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s symptoms by up to 50%! The researched techniques in "Body Moves for Brain Power" (done mostly in a chair) allow you a unique avenue to challenging your brain.

What will you do in the “Body Moves for Brain Power” class?

  • • Hand coordination exercises with balls and bean bags.

  • • Balance exercises to train your mind to respond quickly.

  • • Dominant and non-dominant activities to challenge your brain with new movements.

  • • Crossing midline moves to improve motor skills development and increase cognitive capacity.

  • • Super Brain Yoga to help boost brain function.

  • • Coordination patterns to help improve your brain’s ability to reason.

  • • Shaking movements to help release tension in your muscles, lubricate your joints, improve circulation, and help reduce and release the stress hormone cortisol from your body.

  • • Finger exercises to stimulate nerve endings that go directly to the brain. By developing the finger to thought connection you begin to improve the fine motor responses that can contribute to brain plasticity.

  • • Peripheral vision work to stimulate the production of acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine is critical for focus and for the process of memory development. Acetylcholine is greatly diminished in Alzheimer’s patients.

  • • Abdominal exercises. Well, if you are going to live a long healthy life…you better look good too!

See you in class!
